The sacrifices we make, activities we carry out, things we do as mums are a lot hidden. Sometimes it's only when it manifests as 'a child's success in academics or sports' that people ask to find out how they achieved such and hear what we have done as mums to achive the result.
Dad's role is a lot more visible when he pays for the rent, school fees, energy, water, travel bills. Sometimes he gets the thank you's' from wife and children especially.
On the other hand, the only thank you mum may receive is when family has eaten and they each say thank you. She wonders, when would all my effors be rewarded? Those who have foresight patiently wait for those limelight moments. What if the limelight moment never comes? Mum could get depressed and really lonely, as she feels no one appreciates her.
If you're a mum reading this, you are strong and appreciated my dear, I appreciate and encourage you to keep doing what you know and do best. Get some inner strength. God sees and rewards. Your joy is from the Lord and not from man or woman or children. You have been called to fulfill a purpose and that's what you're doing.
Drop a line to encourage another mum.
